Well, folks, I can confidently say I never thought I’d type these words but, I signed a lease in San Antonio Texas! By the time you read this, I’ll already have a new zip code and an abundance of Mexican food at my fingertips (sorry for the Irish Goodbye Chicago).
And if that news leaves you saying, “But why? Aren’t things going well for you in Chicago?”, let me share some statistics:
In 2023, not a single in-person audition I attended in Chicago amounted to a booking.
In 2023, around 90% of my income came from touring and out-of-town contracts.
Actors Equity now mandates a set amount of virtual submissions for Broadway, Touring, and Workshop productions. I’ve also booked a few projects including the Grinch Tour via Actors Access. With my agent Katie McGrath’s move to Arise Artist Agency, I’m now represented coast-to-coast!
This flexibility allows me to audition for projects from anywhere with WiFi. While, at first, it might look like a step backward to move to a smaller market, it’s quite the opposite. Between fewer local opportunities and my eagerness to travel, my sights are set on another tour, out-of-town contracts, and Broadway more than ever.
Here’s to new beginnings, abundant Tex-Mex, and fearlessly taking the path less traveled!
Cheers,
Meredith

Broadway Rave - I recently was the Broadway Guest Artist at Broadway Rave; A traveling dance party for adult theatre kids. I sang Life I Never Led and played the role of DJ for a short set.
A text I sent to a friend that sums up my experience being queer in Texas so far.
SHŌGUN - Been watching this incredible mini-series on FX/Hulu. My friend Resa Mishina killed it as the English dub voice for the role of Lady Mariko. Not to mention the cinematography is AMAZING! Resa, who is from Japan, also shared that “the story is so well crafted with attention to detail and accuracy that reflect Japanese history, customs, and traditions.” Although I am not familiar with a majority of these customs myself, there is certainly an air of intention that comes through in every scene. 10/10 would recommend. Go Resa!!
